Studio Nicholson, Valletta Sleeveless Coat, NavyPrice: $935
It's not a classic. It's a solution. You know how sometimes you're cold, but not cold enough to wear a heavy coat, or you're wearing something with big sleeves that are too difficult to stuff into the arms of said coat, or you'd like to wear something like a vest but it's just not warm enough over what you have one, or or or or.
The Valletta Sleeveless Structured Coat may be just what you're looking for. It's a PIECE. Very heavy double faced-wool, one button closure with optional waist belt and two huge front pockets. Put this on and you're very warm, even though it's sleeveless. Wear it over something tailored like a button down for a very formal, minimal work look. Wear it over a hoodie and sweats when doing your things. Wear it with jeans and sweater walking on the beach. It's a conversation starter, that's for sure.
Studio Nicholson Bax Wool Overshirt, Navy HerringbonePrice: $570
So this one actually is a classic, with a genuine surprise, too. Wool overshirt (meaning it can be a shirt, a jacket, chore coat, etc.) in heritage herringbone pattern, rubber tortoiseshell buttons, and two large pockets—one on the outside front, and one on the inside front (hence the twist). Tailored and minimal, very classy. Oversized fit. Unisex.
Studio Nicholson, Ortiga Trench Coat, OlivePrice: $498
It's not the classic trench coat. It's quite oversized, with exaggerated lapels, made from a substantial, structured cotton twill. Tailored enough to feel right for evening, over a gown, etc., but extreme enough to feel good about pairing it with basics.
