The brainchild of Sonya Sombreuil, Come Tees (Santa Cruz) is all hand screened, hand drawn, and hand executed by the artist. The method of silkscreen developed by Ms. Sombreuil allows the ink to settle deeply into the fibers, resulting in a higher saturation of color and permanence, and a texture that feels more embedded, less raised. Her style of illustration is as meditative as it is provocative. Look closely and read closely for a history of music, punk, protest, the silly and the weird, American and global influence rattling together in a precise, cannibalistic crescendo of visual poetry.
