For those that have difficulty with the notion of jewelry in the traditional sense, that have little interest in differentiating this delicate chain from that delicate chain, Autoctona (Portland, OR) may be the answer. The shock of the new resonates on first viewing, these things with an archaic presence. Cast metals paired with hand-dyed, ombred nylon—an initiation into the new world. Familiar etymology becomes less so: modern sport and a Venturi house, classic Tiffany touched with Technicolor. More than simply fine materials and craftsmanship; the true luxury is surprise, of substance and brightness. The striking clarity of component and idea creates an immediate understanding of the elements that come together to make one piece—the weight (metal), the color (fiber), the curve (body). Jewelry that is not an accessory that will work for any person.

Every element is hand-produced in Portland; no machine-made parts are used. Custom cases made from re-claimed regional wood are signed and numbered by the designer, lined in Pendleton eco-wool, and laser-engraved.

NB: For a custom ring size or color/metal request (5-8 weeks), please inquire. We are happy to assist you. Due to the bespoke nature of the line, no returns or exchanges are accepted.
