Milena Silvano is based in East Sussex, UK. She works with traditional craft techniques and histories, but in a contemporary context, exploring new conventions, avant-garde experiments, and sensibilities. Her most well-known work has been through the use of reclaimed and deadstock sheepskins and silks, sourced ethically and sustainably. She shapes and dyes each piece by hand, creating carefully considered garments that are paens to personal preoccupations—travel, spirituality, feminist philosophy, environmentalism. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, lovingly made, and thoroughly original.
